Admissions Requirements

- To be admitted by all Technical Colleges, applicants must satisfy one of the six academic readiness paths below:
- High school graduates mustsubmitan official high school transcript, including graduation date, that reflects the student has met the attendance, academic, and/or assessment requirements for the state’s Board of Education or equivalent agency.
- High school diplomas/transcripts must be issued from a state recognized secondary institution.
- Applicants with diplomas from secondary schoolslocatedoutside the United States must have their transcripts translated and evaluated for equivalency by an approved outside evaluation organization.
- High school Certificates of Attendance or other certificates, credentials, or documents where the student did not complete all required coursework or testingrequiredfor a high school diploma in that state are only recognized for programs not requiring a high school credential or equivalency.
- High school diplomas/transcripts must be issued from a state recognized secondary institution.
- Submission of an official transcript reflecting the student has passed an examination or completed a program the state recognizes as the equivalent of a high school diploma (e.g.GED,HiSET, Career Plus HSE).
- Exceptions to requirements a. or b. include thosestudentsseeking enrollment into an approved basic workforce certificate that does not require a high school diploma, or high school equivalency for admission as listed onAttachment 6.2.1p.a2 Program Placement Information.
- Submission of an official transcript from one or more previously attended postsecondary institutions (accredited by an accepted accrediting agency) reflecting the successful completion of a minimum of 12 semester or 18 quarter credit hours of coursework at the post-secondary level or successful completion of a college level math and English course.
- Applicants who were homeschooled who attended an accredited program mustsubmitannual progress reports or a final transcript for the equivalent of the homeschooled student’s junior and senior years. The final progress report or transcript must include the graduation date;
- Applicants who attended a non-accredited high school or home school mustsubmitan official transcript and one of the following:
- Official scores from an assessment instrument meeting collegeestablishedrequired minimums per Attachment 6.21a2
- Successful completion of 12 hours of college coursework for credit thatappearon an official high school transcript
- Official scores from an assessment instrument meeting collegeestablishedrequired minimums per Attachment 6.21a2
- High school graduates mustsubmitan official high school transcript, including graduation date, that reflects the student has met the attendance, academic, and/or assessment requirements for the state’s Board of Education or equivalent agency.
- Service members of the U.S. Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, or Navy maysubmitan official copy of their DD Form 214 or other official documentation of military serviceindicatinghigh school graduate or equivalent.
- Exception: Presidents of Technical Colleges may waive the high school diploma/high school equivalency requirement for those pursuing a high school equivalency who are otherwise eligible to enroll in a specific program of study.
- To be admitted by all Technical Colleges, applicants must satisfy one of the six academic readiness paths below:

Alabama residents from Lee, Chambers, Russell, and Barbour counties mayqualifyReciprocity, which grants the in-state tuition rate.
Columbus Tech welcomes students who have previously attended other colleges or universities. If you have everattemptedor completedcollege courses at another institution, you are a considered a transfer student and would need to complete the simple steps below:
- Complete the application for admission and pay the $25 non-refundable application fee
- Submit an official copy of your high school or high schoolequivalencytranscript.

Transfer applicants whosubmitan official transcript from a regionally accredited college or university that shows one of the following do not need tosubmittheir high school transcript:

- Submit a transient letter from your home institution toadmissions@columbustech.edu. A new transient letter isrequiredfor eachadditionalterm

Students currently enrolled at another regionally accredited institution may enroll as a transient student on a space-available basisin order tocomplete coursework to transfer back to their home institution.
This special status admission category is designed for students who are not seeking a certificate/diploma/degree but whodesirecredit for coursework in a specific program. The following admission parameters apply under this classification:
- Submit the Application for Admissionand pay the one-time $25 application fee
- Submit Lawful Presence documentation and proof of Georgia residency to be eligible for the in-state tuition rate
Please note the following:
- Special status students arenoteligible for financial aid.
- Courses selected by special status students are subject to specific prerequisiterequirements.
- The number of hours taken as a special admit student in no way waives the requirements of the regular admission process.
- Students may enroll in classes onspace-available basis.
Once you complete and submit the CTC Online AdmissionApplication,you can still use the same username and password to access a dynamic Enrollment Portal based off of the information you put on your application.TheEnrollment Portalwill allow you to view and upload required documents for admission, sign up for Orientation, and view various student resources around campus.

Mini-mester
A mini-mesteris a “miniature semester” that takes place midway through a semester.At Columbus Tech, the accelerated mini-mesterwillrunabout7.5 weeks.Even though the terms are shorter, they earn the same credit hours as a traditional, full-length semester.In other words,it’sa fast-track format.These courses are only available to CTC students who are currently enrolled for less than 12 hours and for new, already accepted students.Search theCTC scheduleusing the Advanced Search Option and the Part of Term search to view mini-mesterclasses.
Verification of Lawful Presence in the United States
Effective January 1, 2012, all students applying for in-state or and out-of-state tuition waiver must provide validation of lawful presence in the United States. The following documents will serve as proof of lawful presence in the United States and documentation will berequiredbefore you are eligible for consideration of in-state tuition, or an out-of-state waiver:
- Students who file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and are eligible for federal student aid under Title IV will have their lawful presence verified as part of the FAFSA process.
- A clear copy of an original or certified U.S. Birth Certificate showing the student was born in the U.S. or a U.S. territory, A U.S. Certificate of Birth Abroad issued by the Department of State (DS-1350) or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (FS-240). The copy must very clearly show the raised or written seal to be acceptable.
- A U.S. Certificate of Naturalization (USCIS form N-550 or N-570).
- A U.S. Certificate of Citizenship (USCIS form N-560 or N-561).
- A current U.S. Passport.
- Unexpired Georgia and select out of state Drivers licenses and state ID cards can be accepted under certain conditions. It must be a Real ID and notcontainany of the verbiage in the chart below. If the copy received has the topportionof the card cutoffthe document will not satisfy lawful presence.
- A current military ID (service member only, not dependent). Documented using the Confirmation of Review of Military ID Worksheet – A photocopy is not acceptable.
- A current, valid Permanent Resident Card (USCIS form I-151 or I-551). We require both the front& backsides of your Permanent Resident Card to besubmitted. It must not expire before the first day of class of the term the student will start classes.
- Students admitted on an F, J or M Visa will have their lawful presence verified through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
- Students admitted on any other Visa will have their lawful presence verified through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program

Any student who cannot be verified as lawfully present in the United States is not eligible to be considered for in-state tuition, or an out-of-state waiver, regardless of how long he or she has lived in Georgia. In addition to being lawfully present in the United States, students must meet the in-state tuition requirements as outlined in TCSG Board Policy and Procedure V.B.3 towarrantan in-state classification. Students that are initially classified as out-of-state and successfully petition to have their residency changed to in-state alsohave tomeet the verification requirement.
